What is NCPRI?
Many groups and individuals are fighting political corruption and mal-administration in India. National Campaign for Political Reforms in India (NCPRI) is a network of such groups and individuals.
When was NCPRI formed?
On May 2, 2002 the Supreme Court of India mandated full disclosures by all electoral candidates. Immediately thereafter, the government and all political parties unanimously tried to nullify the Supreme Court’s orders. That's when numerous civil society groups, retired officers, jurists, and activists spontaneously met and vowed to fight together.
There are already so many other sites, why is ncpri.org needed?
NCPRI portal aims to serve the following objectives:
.. COMMON PLATFORM. Many groups and individuals are fighting political corruption and mal-administration in India. This portal will provide a collaborative platform and tools to such groups and individuals for working together.
.. CONNECTIVITY. Lots of people want to help fight political corruption and mal-administration in India. They often ask "How can I help?" The irony is that other people and groups that are active in the area of government/political reforms need all the help they can get. This portal will connect these two sets of people.
.. AWARENESS. Focused and updated information will be available on political corruption and mal-administration in India.
What is NCER and its relation with NCPRI?
National Campaign for Electoral Reforms (NCER) was the first step of NCPRI. NCER focused on comprehensive electoral reforms.
Is NCPRI a political party or is it aligned with any existing party?
NCPRI is neither a political party nor favours any existing political party. We are a NON-PARTISAN people’s movement for fighting political corruption and mal-administration through the implementation and use of instruments such as Right to Information.
What is NCPRI's linkages to India Against Corruption?
"India Against Corruption" is the long established brand of "Hindustan Republic Army" (a patriotic revolutionary grassroots movement). NCPRI acts as secretariat for the IAC.
What is NCPRI's linkages to "National Campaign for People's Right to Information"?
The erstwhile RTI campaign split from NCPRI in 2004 with the understanding that they would cease using the acronym NCPRI. However, they have not done so. Accordingly, NCPRI has started its own RTI campaign styled as "National Campaign to Protect RTI in India".
